Frequently asked questions
Quantfolio is an educational tool for quantitative portfolio analysis and optimization. Here is what it does, what it doesn't, and how your decisions stay yours.
- Is this financial advice?
- No. Quantfolio is an educational and analytical tool. You choose the assets and the constraints; the engine optimizes and analyzes within the limits you set. It does not recommend that you buy or sell anything, and it never executes trades. Every decision is yours. If you need personalized advice, consult a licensed financial adviser.
- If it builds a portfolio, isn't that a recommendation?
- No — and the distinction matters. The engine is a calculator: it takes the candidate assets and the return and risk estimates you provide, plus your own limits (how many assets, maximum weight, acceptable drawdown), and computes an allocation that fits them. It does not forecast markets or tell you what to buy. The inputs and the final decision are always yours.
- Do I need to be an expert to use it?
- No. Each metric comes with a plain-language explanation, and you can start from the famous example portfolios to see how the analysis reads. The results always state their assumptions and their risks up front, so you learn as you go.
- What can I analyze?
- Stocks and ETFs from global markets, identified by ticker (for example AAPL, SPY or VTI). You provide the candidate assets and, if you have them, your own return and risk estimates. If you don't, the tool can load a sample set computed from real price history so you can get started.
- What makes Quantfolio different from a portfolio analyzer?
- A plain analyzer measures a portfolio you already have. Quantfolio also optimizes: a QUBO/QAOA selector chooses which assets enter and classical optimizers decide the weights. Then it proves the strategy out-of-sample — walk-forward backtesting, Monte Carlo robustness, and stress tests through real crises like 2008, 2020 and 2022 — so you see evidence, not just a projection.
- Where does the data come from?
- From historical market prices. That history is used to estimate risk metrics, correlations, the efficient frontier and the backtests. Historical estimates describe the past; they do not predict future results.
- Is the quantum part real?
- The asset-selection step is formulated as a QUBO and solved on quantum QAOA and VQE circuits, run on quantum simulators. For portfolios of realistic size the quantum and classical solvers return the same selection — the quantum layer is what makes the engine quantum-ready, not a performance claim. We say so plainly rather than overselling it.
- Can I cancel whenever I want?
- Yes. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time from your account, with no lock-in. Billing is handled securely by our payment processor; we do not store your card details.
- Are my account and my portfolios secure?
- Your data is stored in your account with restricted access. Payments are handled by a third-party processor as intermediary, so we never store your card information. Quantfolio holds no funds and transmits no orders.
